Attack of the Blog!

Would you like to be a robot? Or work for a robot? This site needs an artist to create custom graphics in the form of page themes, images, and avatars.

Tech Specs:
- A welcome page image with an image map for navigation
- A Wordpress compatible theme. You may adapt a currently existing free license set of php files– no need creating from scratch.
- Custom avatars in various sizes and crop styles for the robots who live here
- Php files for headers, footers, and sidebars
- Perhaps animated GIF or Flash files?
- Custom clip art files for labeling posts and categories

Style Specs:
- Visual look inspired by crappy sci-fi and horror movies of the 1950’s. That does not mean verbatim reproduction of the art style. I also really like chunky Genndy Tartakovsky style art, pastels and watercolors. Keep in mind that this should not be too serious or heavy– lots of black and grey with writhing cables a la Matrix is not what I have in mind. I’m seeking more of a “the future is now!” feel, when society imagined up the Jetsons, Marvin the Martian, and Buck Rodgers.
- Clean design: colorful and catchy but not cluttered. Again, I’ll refer to the 1950’s design aesthetic — clean, energetic, and crisp. Anything you create should look fantastic on a t-shirt.
- I want the main page to look like a movie poster that is an image map that directs visitors to different parts of the site. I have a rough design concept for this already.
- I’d like a really cool, goofy header graphic that says “Attack of the Blog!”
- I want a kickass site above all else. The artist’s particular interpretation of my specs can be very broad. If someone makes robots that look like they will reach right out of the computer screen and pump your brains full of data goo, I’ll be happy.

Perks:
- The pride of a job well done. And cold hard cash.
- You can name 5 people who will be 100% spared, no questions asked, during and after the future robot uprising. If you include yourself, though, that counts as one of the five.
- You may use any of the art you create in a portfolio or self-promotion for the purposes of job seeking or wooing clients, although you may not sell it anywhere else as it will be considered exclusively created for this site. I want unique art– that’s why I’m willing to pay for it.
- You may use the owners of this site for professional references, who will heartily endorse your amazing work and professional demeanor.
- Membership in the Robot Alliance.
- Ongoing commissions as the site expands. I’d eventually like to build a store, forum, and some other features. But that’s a way off.

How to Bid:
- Contact me and let me know you’re interested. We’ll go over a few ideas.
- Submit some sample art
- If I like it, we’ll discuss the package you’ll be creating.
- You give me a price that you think is fair compensation for the time and effort you would put in. I’m willing to pay a fair price for good work, so don’t sell too low or too high.
